Doris Nelson was born at Roth, North Dakota on Dec. 26, 1926 to Joseph and Ester Nelson. She went home to her heavenly mansion on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Lutheran Brethren Church, 730 W. Roosevelt Ave. in Nampa. Burial will be at 3 PM on Wednesday at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.

She had four brothers; Oscar, Joel, LuVern, and Marlyn. She started school at age six and completed eighth grade and confirmation. Doris then went to work for neighbors, saving everything she made.

At the age of 25, she attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. There she met Erling Christensen and they were married on Nov. 26, 1949.

In 1952 their first child was born and shortly after Davis was born they loaded the family and farm equipment and moved to a farm near Nampa. This is where they raised three boys and one girl; David, James, Jonathan, and Elizabeth. They attended Trinity Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and working with the Luther League youth group.

They also were very supportive and active with Boise Rescue Mission. While Erling custom farmed, Doris took care of a large garden which included various berry’s, milked cows, raised calves, and took care of her family. Additionally, still found time to help widows and the elderly.

God must have given here a great heart. In 1968 & 69 Doris and Erling were involved in starting the Lutheran Brethren Church in Nampa and purchased the land where the church is today. Many folks around have been blessed by God through the actions of Doris.

Doris was also blessed by God so many times and ways. Doris was human and no different from anyone else, except she was loyal to her belief in Jesus. A great reunion is sure to be taking place with Jesus and friends.

Bible verses she loved from Phil 4; “I have learned in whatever state I am to be content…I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me…I desire fruit that may abound to your account…God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries, PO Box 1494, Boise, Idaho 83701.
