Obituary for Doris “Lover” Deardurff (Severs) Doris M. “Lover” Deardurff, 96, of Morocco, IN, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. She was born on April 26, 1922 in Enos, IN to Jake and Jetta (Rainford) Severs. She attended school in Enos and graduated from Morocco High School.
She was a resident of Morocco until the age on 92, when she went to live with her daughter in Battle Ground, IN. Lover retired from Northway Products in Rensselaer, IN in 1995. She had also worked as a telephone operator in Kentland, IN and as a waitress at Merchant’s Restaurant in Morocco.
She was a member of the Morocco First United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, Nick and Nicole. She enjoyed playing cards; watching NBA basketball, especially the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls; watching game shows; reading; and working seek and find wordbooks.
She was known for her famous Peanut Butter Fudge. Lover is survived by her two children, Connie Baker of Battleground, IN and Dale (Sandy) Deardurff of Monticello, IN; one granddaughter, Tricia (Mark) Mendel of Monticello, IN; and two great-grandchildren, Nick Mendel and Nicole Mendel, both of Monticello, IN. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jake and Jetta Severs; five sisters: Bernice Denton, Helen Woolley, Evelyn Holley, Esther Smart, and Mary “Babe” Bartholomew; and two brothers, Harold “Jack” Severs and Donnie Severs.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 9-11 a.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. (Central Time) with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
