Dorothea Amelia Bryant was born February 3, 1939, daughter of the late Augia Lee and Otis Brooks. Dorothea graduated from Maces Lane High School with the Class of 1958. On March 19th of that same year she married her soul mate, Overseer Francis Bryant and their journey to a wonderful life began.

Dorothea worked over night private sitting and filled in the rest of her free time assisting with the Maryland Food Bank; as the Payee for The Department of Social Services; making someone smile at the Glasgow Nursing Home; being a light for her Youth Outreach Ministry and as the Treasure of her and Overseer’s Ministry, Family Tabernacle of Faith. They did many good works with her as the backbone of the family. They had the privilege of nurturing and raising six musically gifted children, Broderick and Bonnie Bryan (Pocomoke, MD); Sandra & Floyd Allen (Hurlock, MD); Karen Bryant (Cambridge, MD); Antoine Bryant (East New Market, MD); Keith Bryant (Finchville, MD) and Erwin Bryant (Deceased).

They were known locally as The Bryant Singers. Dorothea had many grandchildren; but her natural ones are Rena and Reggie Friend (Hurlock, MD); Latoya Allen (Cambridge, MD); Montre Allen (Cambridge, MD); Chenay Adams (Salisbury, MD); LaShon Adams and Kenneth Stanley II (Salisbury, MD); Antoinette Bryant (Miami, FL); Jermaine Chapman (Miami, FL); Tinisha Watson and William (Cambridge, MD); Keith Bryant Jr. (Cambridge, MD); Elease Bryant (Cambridge, MD); Roberto Gross (Cambridge, MD); Ke’Onda Bryant (Cambridge, MD); Ke’Andre Bryant and Charniqua Neal (NC). She also has a massive flow of nieces, nephews, cousins and great grands.

She loved and cherished them all dearly. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alberta Lee and youngest gift from God, Erwin Bryant. She was full of life and took great pride and joy in serving the Lord.

She loved children and her family more than anything, outside of Christ. She had a heart of gold but was very firm. She enjoyed cooking big dinners and having the family over after service on Sunday afternoons.

She is definitely a major piece missing from the Bryant Family Chain.
