Obituary of Dorothea Ames Dorothea “Dottie” Ames, 81, of Wappingers, NY passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Berlin, Germany on December 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ann Preignitz. She has been a local resident for 58 years.

On July 29, 1967 Dottie married Ralph Ames at the Arlington Reformed Church and he survives her at home. Dottie loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, knitting, crocheting and her needle work. Many friends remember Dottie assisting at the Parmele Funeral Home and for her many years as a polling inspector in the Town of Wappingers.

Dottie also loved bowling and was active in many different bowling leagues throughout the years and was an avid collector of coins and stamps. Dottie worked for IBM in the main plant in Poughkeepsie in the sixties. She was very adventurous when she young and lived in Germany, traveling throughout Europe with a motorcycle club.

In addition to her husband, Ralph, Dottie is survived by her daughters; Diane Bahrenburg -Cook (Kevin) of Staatsburg, Lori Ames Hamilton (Rich) of Hyde Park and Marci Ames-Cobb (Tim) of LaGrange. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Sarah Devens, Brittany Stiles, Jay Cobb, Alex Cook, Shannon Cobb, Michael Cook and Kaci Cobb, as well as her 6 great-grandchildren, three sisters Helga Hotz in Switzerland, Christa Wuerges in Germany, Kitty Sieburg in Ocala Florida, a fourth sister Erika Koche of Poughkeepsie predeceased Dottie and many nieces and nephews survive in the United States and Germany. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10:00am-12:30pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30pm, following visitation. Burial is private and at the convenience of the Family. If desired, donations may be made to the Northeast Kidney Foundation, 23 Computer Dr., Ste.
