Obituary for Dorothy Brzozowski (Bronakowski) Mrs. Dorothy Brzozowski, age 88, of Erie, passed away on April 2, 2018. She was born in Erie on December 2, 1929, the daughter of the late Konstanty and Stella Bronakowski. Mrs. Brzozowski was a graduate of Mercyhurst Seminary and Saint Vincent School of Nursing where she received her R.N. Degree.
She was a pediatric nurse at Saint Vincent Hospital and later worked at the Veterans Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama and at Georgetown University Hospital while her husband attended dental school there. Dorothy was a lifelong parishioner at St. Luke Church. She was a dedicated nurse, wife and mother.
She enjoyed interior design, knitting and reading. The greatest joys of her life were her late husband Dr. Leonard Brzozowski, whom she married in 1953, and her four sons and their families. She is survived by her four sons: Philip Brzozowski, MD and his wife Jayne of Highland Heights, Ohio and their children Dr. Kathryn Cieply (Dennis), Alicia Nevin (Miles) and Christopher; Jan Brzozowski, MD and his wife Sharon of Erie and their children, Maria, Alexander, and Grace; Leonard Brzozowski, MD and his wife Cathy of Highland Heights, Ohio and their children Luke, Eric, Thomas and Beth; and Paul Brzozowski, MD and his wife Kelly of Highland Heights, Ohio and their children Nicole, Laura, Julia, and Megan; and her 3 great-grandchildren Logan and Pippa Cieply and Tripp Nevin.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to a prayer service there on Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions can be made to Mercyhurst Preparatory School, 538 East Grandview Blvd, Erie, PA 16504.
