Cobleskill- Dorothy DeSantis Oppelt, 91, at rest on Sunday December 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (DeGennaro) DeSantis. Dorothy attended Mont Pleasant High School.

She was employed for thirty years as a Matron at the Schenectady County Courthouse. Dorothy was the beloved mother of Harold “Ope” Oppelt of Schenectady, Dora Oppelt of Cobleskill, Cathy (Bill) Loftis of Carlisle, Joe (Denise) Oppelt Kopacz of Sloansville, Dorothy A. “Dot” Oppelt of Schenectady, Tony (Debra) Oppelt of Latham, Russell (Tracy) Oppelt of Fultonham, James (Kim) Oppelt of Guilderland; loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; beloved sister of Pasqualina “Patty” Teetsel of Schenectady and the late Arthur, Rocco and Dominick DeSantis; beloved niece of Anthony DeGennaro of Guilderland. Dorothy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a very large extended family including , Michael (Kate) Hyrny of Duanesburg, Helen Greklek of Mountoursville, PA and Bob Greklek of Schenectady, all of whom received regular phone calls from Dorothy, letting all know how much she loved them and wished them well.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Rotterdam. A funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday at the funeral home with Fr.

Dominic Isopo officiating followed by burial in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. The Oppelt family wishes to thank Dorothy’s aides, Joni Hopkins, Ronda Lent, Lisa Harbison; social worker, Joann Hitchcock, Catskill Area Hospice and all those who assisted in Mom’s loving care. A special thanks to Dr. Linda Christie for her exceptional care of Dorothy.
