Dorothy Freiler, 78, of North Port, FL, formerly of Meriden and Westbrook, CT, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017. She was born on November 14, 1938 to Robert and Alida (L’Heureux) Gearing in Meriden, CT. She was active in her communities, she was a member of the Columbiettes, a past President of the Westbrook Women’s Clubs and a Daughter of Liberty.

She was a member of the choir at St. Mark’s Church in Westbrook CT, San Pedro and The Voices of La Casa in North Port FL. She enjoyed helping and preparing for meals for activities at La Casa for over 10 years. She is survived by her sons; Peter (Ellen), Eric (Alice), and Robert; daughter; Lorelei Freiler; five grandchildren: Amber, Joshua, Erzsica, Zachary and Reed; one great grandchild McKenzie and her brother Thomas Gearing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Antal (Tony) Freiler and her sister, Alida Vasso. A funeral mass will be on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11am at San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, followed by a reception at La Casa recreation hall. Memorial donations may be made in Dottie’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, on the web at StJude.org or to San Pedro Catholic Church.
