Dorothy G. O’Neil, 88, formerly of Butler, died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Vincentian Marian Manor in Pittsburgh. Born October 27, 1929 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late George C. Gillespie and Alice M. (Hesidence) Gillespie. Dorothy was a graduate of Butler High School and was a Real Estates Agent for Caldwell Banker and then Howard Hanna.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler also the Intermediate League of Butler and had volunteered for PARC. She was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and had been a caregiver for her mother, her uncle and her aunts. She is survived by her 3 daughters: Suzanne (Dr. Mark) Brody of Jefferson Hills, PA and their children; Dr. Shannon (Dr. Jonathan) Cohen, also Dorothy’s newly born great grandchildren, Aaron and Noah; David Brody and Jennifer Brody and her fiance Samuel Johnston.

Alison (William) Braun of Worthington, PA and their children, Trevor Braun and Michael Braun. Pamela (Dr. Duane) Smyth of Mt. Lebanon, PA and their children, Kevin Smyth, Grant Smyth and Hunter Smyth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo K. O’Neil, whom she married September 20, 1952, he died August 19, 2008; also her brother George Gillespie and her caninie companion “Sugar”. Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street, Butler.

Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery, Butler. St. Pauls Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church to recite the Rosary. In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
