Obituary for Dorothy Hicks 96-year-old, Dorothy Hicks of Pana, IL died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 5:45 PM at Shelbyville Manor. Dorothy was born Wednesday, February 8, 1922 in Oconee Township, Shelby County, Illinois, the thirteenth and youngest child of John George and Allie Rose (Walter) Wessels. She was raised on the family farm in Oconee Township and attended elementary school at Round Prairie Country School.

Dorothy married Lloyd Edward Hicks in St. Charles, Missouri in November, 1940. Dorothy was retired from the Deli at Johnstons’ Market Pana. Dorothy Hicks is survived by Daughter Beverly Beyers (Ray “Mike”); Granddaughter Tina Grissom; Grandsons Jeff Beyers (Mollie) and Greg Beyers (Heather); Great-Grandchildren LeAnna Grissom, Matthew Grissom (deceased), Reide, Aubrey, and Carter Beyers, and Mitchell and Grayson Beyers; Great-Great Grandchildren Quinton Grissom and Brooklynn Grissom-Hopper.

Dorothy Hicks is preceded in death by Parents, Husband, Brothers George, Everett, Walter, Raleigh, Lawrence, Eugene, John, and Joe Wessels; Sisters Maggie Payne, Pearl Hanson, Rena Sowin, and Leola Marty.
