Dorothy Kuchtjak Loebig, age 81, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. She was born in Mt. Lebanon to John and Helen (Waite) Hoehn.

After graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School, she attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa. , where she earned a degree in Journalism and met her first husband, George Kuchtjak Jr. Shortly after their marriage in 1959, she moved to Economy Borough where she lived for 59 years.

In addition to being mother to three children, she worked for many years as a freelance news writer for the South News and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Dorothy was a dedicated volunteer at several local organizations including Meals on Wheels, MDA, and the Good Samaritan Parish in Ambridge. Eleven years after her first husband passed, Dorothy met James Loebig who was also a dedicated volunteer at the Good Samaritan Parish.

James and Dorothy married in 2000. Dorothy enjoyed living in the country, nature, gardening, reading, oil and watercolor painting, traveling, attending concerts and spending time with family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sibling, David Hoehn, and her first husband, George Kuchtjak Jr

She is survived by her devoted husband, James Loebig; three children, Dr. Gregory Kuchtjak, Edward (Kimberly) Kuchtjak, and Christina (George) McCartney; two stepchildren, James Loebig Jr. and Lisa Loebig; four grandchildren, Kristen Kuchtjak, Kate Kuchtjak, Alex Kuchtjak, and Harrison Kuchtjak; step-granddaughter, Elora; nephew, Beau; nieces, Kim, Karma and Sonja; and many Loebig relatives who Dorothy found very welcoming and enjoyed spending time with. Family and friends will be received Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. , 1099 Maplewood Ave.

, Ambridge, where a service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at the Good Samaritan Church in Ambridge. The Loebig/Kuchtjak family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the Concordia Assisted Living Facilities in Wexford and Franklin Park as well as the staff of the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford for their attentiveness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dorothy’s name to Good Samaritan Hospice, 146 Neely School Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
