Obituary for Dorothy L. Redmon Dateline: Alton Dorothy L. Redmon, 98, died at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born January 17, 1920 in Alton, she was the daughter of William F. and Anna Louise (Feldwisch) Loellke. Dorothy graduated from Alton High School and attended Shurtleff College.

She married Harry “Mac” McConathy in August of 1942. He preceded her in death in 1983. She married C. Gant Redmon in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Mrs. Redmon was a lifetime member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ where she served as an Elder and a Deacon. She was a longtime member of Lockhaven Country Club as well as a member of the Godfrey Women’s Club since 1966 and a past president. At one time she served as president of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority.

She had worked for Miller’s Mutual, Alton Savings and Loan and retired from the Title III office of the Alton Public School System. She is survived by her son, Ronald K. (Sharon) McConathy of Kingston, TN, a step-daughter, Kaye Long of Brighton, and two step-sons, Gant Redmon (Fran) of Alexandria, VA, and Bogie Redmon (Judy) of Collinsville, IL and numerous grandchildren and step grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Shearburn of Godfrey and her children, Kaye Sutton and Kim Shearburn.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey. Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
