Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy Lee Spear Taylor, age 62, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness. Dorothy was born July 20, 1956 in Pineland, Texas, daughter of the late Glen Chambers and Betty Creech Chambers. She moved to Joplin as a child, and attended Joplin Schools.

She has worked for LaBarge, now Ducommun Incorporated of Joplin, for over 45 years, the last 37 years as a supervisor. She was a devoted mother, who loved her boys very much, and followed all their sporting events, except the motocross racing, which she supported, but had a hard time watching. She also loved spending time with all her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers, Charly and Johny. Survivors include her husband, James V. Taylor of the home; sister Nancy Creech of Joplin; sons, Brad Spear and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Cary Spear and wife Debbie of Jasper, Missouri; stepdaughter April Harper of Joplin several grandchildren and step grandchildren including, Collin Spear, Harry Spear, Nora Spear, Lydia Spear, Austin Kegin, Lexie Kegin, Heather Harper, Zechariah Harper, Jax Petty, and Blake Petty; and many more. Memorial services will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at College Heights Christian Church with Pastor Mark Hart officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
