OBITUARY Dorothy Lillian Franz October 6, 1927 – October 18, 2018 Dorothy Lillian Franz, 91, of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Oct 17, 2018. “Dot” was born in Warsaw, NY to William L. McClusky and Mary (Zehler) McClusky on Oct 6, 1927. Her family moved to Dallas when she was 9 years old.

She attended Holy Trinity and Ursuline Academy grade schools. She attended Highland Park High School for one year but returned to Ursuline Academy where she was elected May Queen her senior year. She married Matt Franz on Nov.

22, 1949 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas. She attended the University of Texas and graduated from Saint Paul Hospital School of Nursing in Dallas. Her short career as an RN ended with the birth of the first of 7 children.

Upon the death of her husband, Dot stepped in to take over the Dallas operation of the optical company he started in 1947 which had grown to 21 optical stores and 3 contact lens manufacturing facilities located in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. She was an avid tennis player for many years and loved to golf and play Bridge. She was a loving, giving and kind person; never judgmental and always there to help those in need.

She was a volunteer school nurse at St Monica and St Rita elementary schools where her own kids often feigned headaches and upset stomachs just so they could visit with Mom. She was involved in the Dallas Services for the Visionally Impaired and often prepared sandwiches at the Austin Street Shelter and Meals on Wheels. She was a devoted Eucharistic Minister to the sick, a member of the Holy Spirit Circle, the St Jude Circle and the St. Rita Vocational Guild.

She would open the church every morning at 5:25 to set up for Mass and maintain the candles and linens until she was finally unable to for health reasons at the age of 90. This world was so lucky to have God loan us a saint to be a mother, grandmother, great-Grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. Dorothy is preceded in death by Her Husband, Mathew Robert Franz, her parents William and Mary McClusky, brother, Billy McClusky, and sisters, Betty Manilla and Margaret McElroy.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Bob Franz, Patricia Liem (Rick), William Franz (Karen), Charles Franz (Dotti), Rose Mary Peterson (John), Susan Franz, John Franz (Lisa); Sisters, Eleanor (Molly) Gondolf, Pat Nichol, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren In Lieu of flowers, please visit: www. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
