Douglas’ Obituary BUCK, Douglas I. – Of Flint, age 90, entered into Christ’s Kingdom on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, February 14, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 402 S. Ballenger, Flint, Pastor David Hensler officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School. Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Thursday at church until the time of the service.

Douglas was born on November 7, 1928, to parents Jerrold Buck and Mildred (Irvine) Buck in Flint, Michigan. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School and received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University and LLB and JD from Washington and Lee Law School, Lexington, Virginia. Douglas served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 serving as Lt.

(j.g.) aboard the USS Iowa in Panama, Europe and as combat air controller in Korea. He was an instructor at the Glenview Navel Air Station. After graduation from law school he worked for Aetna Insurance Company and was later affiliated with the law firm of Ransom and Fazenbaker; Burroughs Buck and Stalker; and later Buck and Buck.

He practiced law for over forty years the last fourteen years with his son, Douglas I. Buck II. His life and love were devoted to his Savior Jesus Christ and to his wife Maureen (Hardenbrook) and their children, son Douglas I. Buck II (Mary Lynn) of Flint and daughter, Barbara Nell McNally (Mark) of Holland, Michigan. He was the very proud and happy grandfather of Lauren Elizabeth (Colin) Kresse, John Douglas Buck, Katherine Marlene (Tyler) Bekius, Emily Maureen Buck, Jennifer Lynn Buck, Mark Christian McNally and Ellen Maureen McNally and great grandson, Nathan Kresse.

Mr. Buck was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and over the years served as an Elder, Pre-Confirmation, and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Genesee County Bar Association, State of Michigan Bar Association, Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Senior Attorneys, Flint Golf Club and Genesee County Republican party having been a candidate for elective office in the past. For a time, he taught a class entitled Law for the Layman and operated a part-time office offering free legal advice to people in need.

He was a committed Christian who loved the Lord and served Him with joy and enthusiasm. His love for God’s Word grew steadily over the years as the result of his participation and leadership in Bible Study Fellowship. Douglas was a humble servant of the Lord and a model for his children and grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his family.
