Doyce McClellan Settle, Jr., 85, of Swannanoa passed away on December 14, 2018 at his home. Born on October 4, 1933 in Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Doyce McClellan Settle, Sr. and Helen R. Buckner-Settle. Doyce graduated from Swannanoa High School in 1952 and later served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.

He retired from Asheville Mortuary Services in 2011. Doyce was a member of Swannanoa First Baptist Church and was a past member of the Swannanoa Lion’s Club. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Arrowood Settle; sons, Vincent Lee Settle (Deborah) of Clyde, NC and Ronald Dale Settle (Kathy) of Swannanoa, NC; and grandchildren, Benjamin ‘BJ’ Settle (Carman), Josh Settle, Dale Settle, McKenzie Settle, and Lena Settle, all of Swannanoa.

A memorial service will be held at 5 PM on Thursday, December 20 at the Swannanoa First Baptist Church with Doctor Jeff Dowdy officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5PM prior to the service.
