Dr. Guido D. Losasso of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019. He was born to Italian immigrants, Albert and Angela [Labriola] Losasso on May 25, 1924 in Chicago, IL. When he was seven, his family moved to Vandergrift, PA, where he grew up.

He received both his bachelor’s degree and later, his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from University of Pittsburgh in 1947. He enlisted in the US Army and served with the 82 Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC and was chosen by the Air Force in 1948 to work in the dental clinic at Bolling Field in Washington, DC, where he was promoted to Captain. On May 27, 1950, he married Vincenette [Rangatore] Losasso.

In 1953, they returned to Niagara Falls where he opened a dental office and had a thriving practice for over 55 years. He was a past President of the Niagara County Dental Society and served on the advisory board at Niagara University. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Niagara Falls Country Club.

He loved birds, music, photography, gardening, and landscaping, but most of all, he loved his family. Dr. Losasso is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vincenette [Rangatore] Losasso, a son, Guido (Kathy) Losasso, a daughter, Mariette (Dr. David Shapiro) Losasso, two granddaughters, Hannah (Rayne) Bachman, and Sarah Shapiro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as family members in Italy.

He was predeceased by his daughter Rochelle Losasso. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 9th at 10:30 am at St. Peter’s Church on 620 Center Street, Lewiston NY, with Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating, with military honors to follow.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Capital Campaign at St. Peter’s Church or to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Entombment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Arrangements were made through the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Lewiston, NY.
