Dr William Billy G Hill , December 05, 1935 — November 11, 2018

Dr. William G. ‘Billy’ Hill, 82, husband of Linda Pound Hill, of Abbeville, SC died Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home. He was born in Abbeville to the late James Riley Hill, Sr. and Sarah Cochran Hill. Dr. Hill was a 1952 graduate of Abbeville High School and the University of Georgia, class of 1960.

From 1960 – 1962, he was a USDA Livestock Inspector in Statesboro, GA. For 34 years, Dr. Hill was a capable and devoted large animal veterinarian in Abbeville. He was proudly involved in various organizations in our area representing agriculture and livestock.

Dr. Hill was President of the Long Cane Society. As a strong supporter of education, he was a trustee on the Abbeville County School District Board. Dr. Hill served in the South Carolina National Guard.

He, along with his wife, was host for numerous weddings and special events at The Hill House. They were supporters of the Youth For Understanding, an international student exchange program, where they sponsored students from Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Colombia, and Brazil. Dr. Hill was a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda, of the home; three sons, Alan Hill (Ann) of Suwanee, GA, Dr. Bryan Hill, MD. PhD (Kim), of Anderson, SC and Dr. Charlie Hill, MD. PhD of Lilburn, GA; two brothers, James Riley Hill (Ethel Mae), of Blackville, SC and John Livingston Hill (Liubov) of Martinez, GA; a granddaughter, Kelli Krpec (Scott) and three great-grandchildren, Weston, Bree and Lyla.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following at the grave.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Patsy Cann, Hope Swaney and Sophie Johnson for their attentive care and compassion given to Dr. Hill. Memorial contributions, in memory of Dr. Hill, may be sent to the Long Cane Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1031, Abbeville, SC 29620. The family is at the home.
