Mr. Durwood McVay, age 61, of Huguley, Alabama passed away on Sunday, December 30th, 2018 at the LaGrange Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. Mr. McVay was born in Langdale, Alabama on October 3rd, 1957 to the late Robert “Red” McVay and Virginia Blankenship McVay. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale McVay.

Together, Mr. McVay and his father owned and operated McVay Roofing for 50 years. Durwood was a devoted Auburn football fan and he enjoyed working with wood and different crafts. He loved teaching and coaching his sons and their friends the sport of baseball as they were growing up.

He was a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren who affectionately called him “PawPaw”. Mr. McVay was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his fiancé, Lynn Hodge; children, Joey (Laurie) McVay, Robby (April) McVay, Aubrey (Mari Anne) Hodge, Skye (Matt) Hodge, Tanya Post, Carla Souther; siblings, Dallas (Sandra) McVay, Doreen McVay, Delaine (Steve) Gibson; 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 2:00P.M. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Resthaven Cemetery. The Reverend Steve York officiating. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00P.M. EST until 8:00P.M. EST.

Flowers will be accepted or the family requests that memorials be made in his memory to the West Georgia Hospice Program or the American Cancer Society.
