, 76117, or a charity of your choice. Dwight was born Aug. 9, 1922, in rural Elgin, Neb.
, the oldest of 11 children born to Ruth and Milton Mason. He moved to Waco while in High School and graduated from Waco High School and attended Texas A&M before being called into military service. Due to a childhood injury he was medically discharged and went to work in the Fort Worth “Bomber Plant” where he retired from Lockheed Martin after 47 years.
In 1951, Dwight married Beverly Luckey and they had two children, Jean and Stephen. He was a member of the Hemphill Presbyterian Church for 60-plus years, serving on countless committees and as an Elder. Dwight provided community service by volunteering for Code Blue, Habitat for Humanity, the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association and was a Master Mason at Masonic Lodge 942.
He donated time with the Boy Scouts and Little League. Dwight also served as a baseball umpire for high schools and as an announcer for the Fort Worth Independent School District. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his faith, his gentle spirit, family vacations in the Camp-o-tel and his dedication to service in his community.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret and Elaine; brothers, Donald and Robert; and brothers who both died in infancy, Milton Jr. and Melvin. Survivors: Wife, Beverly Mason; daughter, Jean Mason and husband, Mark; son, Stephen Mason and wife, Barbara; granddaughters, Laura and husband, Jason and Stephanie and husband, Mitch; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Mason and Ella; brothers, Warren Mason and wife, Pat and John Mason and wife, Helen; sisters, Myrtle Forney and Gwen Mason; and sisters-in-law, Donna Mason and Madene Mason.
