OBITUARY Earl Milton Fulmer January 11, 1935 – October 23, 2018 Earl M. Fulmer, 83 of Dallas, Texas passed away on Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018 at the Season’s Hospice Inpatient Unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Earl was born on January 11, 1935 in Melrose, Massachusetts, a son of Milton Earl and Nora Mae (Francis) Fulmer.
He married Jennie Benson on November 12, 1960 in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife Jennie Fulmer of Dallas. He is also survived by four children: Jon Fulmer of St. Louis, Missouri, Brett Fulmer of Dallas, Sara (Leah) Fulmer of Dallas, and Lance (Emily) Fulmer of Flower Mound.
He is also survived by six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Jacqueline Fulmer Upon high school graduation, Earl enlisted in the United States Army for a term of service before working as a flight instructor out of New Bedford Airport near Boston. Shortly after, he began an esteemed career in aviation when he took his first flying job as a co-pilot with Forest Oil in Bradford, PA.
Subsequently, a very brief time as a corporate pilot with General Telephone & Electronics was followed by Earl and wife, Jennie, relocating to Dallas to begin a 32-year stint with Dresser Industries. The Dresser Years began with Earl being one-third of an air transport department that grew rapidly in the ’60s and ’70s, culminating with Earl being named Chief Pilot in 1979 and leading a team of 20+ employees. This was a position he was to retain until 1997.
Earl completed his career with free-lance flying assignments (notably for J. C. Penney) over the next few years, until retirement in the early 2000s. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Earl will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM at King of Glory Lutheran Church, located at 6411 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75240. Pastor Olin Knudsen will officiate.
A visiting hour will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. A private family inurnment at the Dallas – Fort Worth National Cemetery with full Army Military honors accorded will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials in Earl’s name be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
