Earl William Schlomer, 89, of Adel (formerly of Grimes) died peacefully on January 23, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society in Indianola Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., February 1, 2019, at Cumming Community Church, 4225 N Birch St., Cumming. Military Honors presented by the Cumming American Legion Post 562 will follow church services and then everyone is invited for the burial service at New Virginia Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for an hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions to the Community Church in Cumming will be accepted. Earl, the son of Harvey and Jesse Lamb was born on October 27, 1929, in Osceloa, Iowa.

He was a devoted Christian and enjoyed reading his Bible. Faith was an important part of his life and he tried his hardest to live by the “Word of God”. He especially enjoyed time outdoors and liked to read and fish.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Marcia) Schlomer, of Norwalk, Janice Jacobs of Waukee, Martin (Kim) Schlomer and Charles (Lori) Schlomer both of California; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty.
