Obituary for Mrs. Edell Hicks Grooms Funeral services for Edell Hicks Grooms, 93, will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. Kent “Boo” Parker will officiate with burial in Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grooms died Saturday, May 26, 2018. Born in Darlington Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Melinda Hall Hicks. Edell worked at Brown’s Grocery in Cassatt for many years.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing and going to auctions. She was the last of her generation of 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving are sons, Toby (Kathy) Grooms, Perry Grooms; grandchildren, Wendy (William Draper) Grooms, Melinda Watson, Justin Grooms, Toby Grooms, Tracy Grooms; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Oren Grooms; son, Gene Grooms; grandchildren, Buddy Grooms and Ciar Grooms. The family thanks all those that have helped care for Edell over the years and also MSA Hospice 0f Lugoff.
