Obituary for Edgar Gonzalez Edgar Gonzalez, age 54 of Derby, CT. , entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Edgar was born November 4, 1963 in Bridgeport, CT.

; the beloved son of the late Victor Gonzalez & Gloria Esther Santana. In addition to his parents, Edgar was predeceased by his brother, William (Tati) Vasquez. Edgar was a hardworking and devoted family man.

He had a great sense of humor and was loved by many. He was an outstanding mechanic, ‘jack of all trades’, and an outspoken individual with a bold personality. He was not afraid to take risks and had a great sense of humor.

He loved helping everyone and filled a room with laughter. He was the happiest when surrounded with children and family. Edgar always put the needs of everyone first before his own; he was extremely reliable and well organized.

He became self-employed and established “Eddie’s Home Improvement” for many years in Pennsylvania before making Derby, CT his home and becoming a well-known mechanic. He was known as “Fast Eddie” by many of his friends as he was passionate about his work. Edgar is survived by his son, Edgar Gonzalez Jr. of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; daughter, Alyssa M. Arthur of New Jersey; grandson, Ayden Johnson; and former wife, Mayra Ruiz Lugo; He had (6} brothers, Victor Vasquez of West Virginia, Carlos Vasquez and wife, Rebecca Furlong of Derby, Juanchie Santana and wife, Evelyn Ramirez of Puerto Rico, David Gonzalez, Salvador Gonzalez and Hector L. Gonzalez, all of Bridgeport; (3) sisters.

Jenny Santana of Texas, Anna C. Cruz and husband, Angel of Bridgeport, Nora Gonzalez of Florida, Edgar had 21 nieces & nephews; 24 great-nieces & nephews; and a host of cousins and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory. Edgar will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 11AM-1PM at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave.
