Obituary for Edward “Ed” I. McMullen Edward I. “Ed” McMullen, 89 of Zanesville, died 11:30 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Morrison House Hospice. He was born Saturday, March 23, 1929, in Lewistown, PA, the son of John R. McMullen and Hallie M. (Huffnagle) McMullen. He married Patricia E. (McLaughlin) McMullen on Friday, May 16, 1952, and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Ed served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy and was a graduate of Penn State University. Prior to moving to Zanesville, Ed & Pat resided in Reedsville, PA, where he retired following many years of service to the public school system as a Food Service Director. He was an avid model railroader and enjoyed collecting Lionel Trains.

Ed enjoyed spending time with his wife and assisting her with her porcelains. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Ed is survived by his daughter: Deborah Trimble of Zanesville; two grandchildren: Jennifer (Robert) Barry and Nathan (Deanna) Roberts; three great grandchildren: Serena Roberts, Olivia Roberts & Teagan Barry all of Cincinnati; two sisters: Martha Foltz & Phyllis Nearhoff both of PA, and a very special friend: Donna Jardine of Zanesville.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife: Pat McMullen who died February 7, 2012; three sisters: Grace Venerick, Anna Mary McCartney & Helen Bedelyon, and one brother: William McMullen. Friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Hillis Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2018, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville, with Fr.

Jan C.P. Sullivan as Celebrant. Ed will be laid to rest beside his wife in Boalsburg Cemetery, Boalsburg, PA, with full military honors.
