Obituary for Edward F. Sisko Edward F. Sisko, 94 of Eltingville, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2018 at S.I. University Hospital North surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Homer City, PA, and after his service in WWII, he moved to Brooklyn, where he met his wife, Frances. Edward and Frances settled in Eltingville in 1981.
He was proud of his service the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a two time purple heart recipient after being wounded in action in Germany on two separate occasions, as well as receiving the Bronze and Silver Stars. Edward was a carpenter with the NYC District Council of Carpenters for 35 years, retiring in 1980.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City with his wife, as well as tending to his vegetable garden. Edward was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who was truly devoted to his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances, who passed away in April of 2018.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Pravato and Joan Ruta; sons-in-law , Thomas and Vincent; siblings, Joe, Andy, Helen and Maryann; grandchildren, Corinn, Jaimi, Victoria, Alexandra and Francesca and his great grandchildren, Joie Loren and Nico Anthony. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday 6-9 p.m. and Friday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. Staten Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Child Church, 4747 Arden Ave. Staten Island. Entombment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ.
