Youngstown – Edward Swager Jr. , 86, died July 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Ed was born May 14, 1932 in Youngstown, son of Edward and Minnie Buckner Swager. He was a 1950 graduate of South High School.

Ed worked in various positions at Ohio Bell for over 30 years. He was a founding member of Boardman Little Spartans, where he was a coach. He also coached little league and Class B baseball.

He was an avid bowler and sports enthusiast for all Ohio teams. Ed was a member of St. Christine Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army during Korean War stationed in Germany.

His wife, Betty, who he married March 28, 1955, died August 9, 1999. He is survived by two sons, Ed Swager of Boardman and Ken (Sharon) Swager of Irvine, CA; his companion, Shirley Matey of Canfield; one niece, Diane Pence of Browns Mill, NJ; and one nephew, Bob Lynn of Austintown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Christine Church, Saturday at 10:00 AM with Fr.

John Keehner officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends and family will be received Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman and Saturday from 9-9:45AM at St. Christine Church.
