Edward’s Obituary Edward “Eddie” Michael Solarez, 59 of Modesto passed away Tuesday, March 4th at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, from complications following open heart surgery. Mr. Solarez was born in Modesto to Fernando and Connie Solarez. Eddie grew up in Patterson, and graduated from Patterson High School in 1978.

He was active in sports, particularly wrestling, football and track. After graduation he worked for Thorkelson Farms and later at Patterson Frozen Foods. In 1990 he began working at Frito Lay as a machine operator until his retirement in 2013.

Eddie married Barbara Alonzo in 1991, together they had two children. Eddie was actively involved in his children’s lives and enjoyed watching them play sports. He never missed his son’s football games or wrestling matches or his daughter’s basketball games and cheerleading.

He loved football and was a huge Oakland Raiders fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing golf. He loved barbequing and listening to music, but most importantly, spending time with his sisters, nephews, nieces and friends, especially his crew from Patterson.

He was a kind-hearted, loving man. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He accomplished many things in his life, but his greatest achievements were his love for his family and friends.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Eddy (Shanaya Sibonga) Solarez; daughter, Adrianna Solarez; grandson Kahekili Sibonga; sisters, Theresa Solarez and Sylvia Solarez. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Solarez and parents. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 13th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, March 14th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Interment to follow at Patterson District Cemetery in Patterson. Services conducted by Hillview Funeral Chapel, Patterson.
