Obituary for Edward Newman Miles “Edward” Newman, age 81, of Clare, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 4, 2018 at his home. He was born the son of Theodore and Arvilla (Goodman) Newman on July 15, 1936, near Clare. Ed had been a Painter by trade.

He married Nancy Lou Heim on June 8, 1957 and she passed away on February 24, 1986. He had been a lifelong resident of the Clare/Beaverton area who loved Fishing and Hunting. He had a passion for gardening also.

He had been a member of the Clare Moose Lodge and attended the Clare United Methodist Church. Ed is survived by his long time companion, Barb Everts, his children, Mike Newman, Fred (Donna) Newman of Fredericktown, Oh. , Laurie (Rick) Brubaker of Three Rivers, Mi.

, and Todd Newman of Dana Point, Ca. , eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his brother Arnold “Bill” Newman of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Renay, his wife Nancy, and his brother Donald. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 11:00 AM from the Clare United Methodist Church with Pastor John Kasper officiating. Friends may meet with his family at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Monday, May 7, from 6 to 9 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM.
