Edwin Jacob Heinrich, 81 passed away peacefully on Sept 2, 2018 at his home after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was born July 29, 1937 in Fort Collins, CO to Jacob and Lena Heinrich. On May 26, 1962 Edwin married Carol McKenna in Pierre, SD.

After graduating from Isabel, S.D. High School in 1955, Ed served 2+ years in the US Army. He earned his Civil Engineering Degree from SD School of Mines and Technology and his MBA from West Virginia University. He spent most of his professional life in the Prestress Concrete Industry, serving in many state associations.

His management positions included COO of Wells Concrete, Wells, MN; Hurlbut Co, Green Bay, WI; Stresscon, Miami, FL, and Price Bros. Midwest, Rochelle, IL. Ed and Carol retired to Appleton, WI in 1994 to be near their children and grandchildren.

From his cottage on Green Bay, to cattle round ups and wagon trains through Montana and South Dakota, he enjoyed his friends and adventures. He valued his Minnesota fishing buddies and his Appleton mall walking and computer group friends, old and new. He always had a huge laugh and a story to share.

What was most important to Ed was his family and everything he did with and for them, from vacations, hobbies, cottage, building projects, skiing, and gardening. Ed lived his life with great energy. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his purest joy!

! ! He recently authored and self published his life story for his grandchildren.

Survived by his wife, Carol of 56 years and daughters Laureen (Steve) Hinton, Karyn (Ken) Van Ryzin and Vicki Heinrich. Grandchildren are Ashley (Matt) Cafaro, David, Alexander, Kyler and Elizabeth Van Ryzin and Jacob and Hannah Bourgault and great granddaughter Madison Niec . His siblings are Emma Ogdahl, Violet Voller, Ruby Wharton, David (Maxine) Heinrich, Arthur (Lois) Heinrich, and June (Leonard) Busse.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9:30 to be followed by a memorial celebrating Ed’s life at 10:30 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton, WI. A memorial service will be held in western South Dakota in the summer of 2019.
