OBITUARY Edythe J. Robinson November 13, 1922 – July 15, 2018 Our beloved mother Edythe Josephine Robinson passed away July 15, 2018, at home, surrounded by her children. Born November 13, 1922 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to the late Irving and Helen Robertson, she left us at the tender young age of 95. Wife of the late Frank J. Robinson, she is survived by her 7 children: Cheryl and Arnold Obey; Christine and Luther White; Frances and Benjamin Navarrete; Nancy Robinson Duncan; Grant and Marguerite Robinson; Greg and Darlene Robinson; and Edythe and Victor Browne.

She is also blessed with 14 grand-children, 21 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A longtime resident of Brooklyn and Staten Island, her life’s work can be viewed in the canvas of her family. Devoted mother, she worked hard to provide opportunities for her family – whether she was a Den Mother to her two son’s Cub Scout troop or ensuring the family spent summers on Martha’s Vineyard, she always strove to provide the best in life for them.

She worked for Abraham & Strauss Department store, and also worked as a crossing guard – sometimes working 3 jobs to ensure her children had a catholic education. During World War II she served as an official dance partner at the USO Balls. One of her first jobs was at an armament factory that played a vital role in the production of bullets in support of the war effort.

In her early years, she was known to be an excellent ice skater. Some of her favorite pastimes included listening to Frank Sinatra, going to the movies, traveling to Atlantic City, and most importantly, attending all family events. Whether it was a granddaughter’s soccer game or a great-grandson’s graduation from Kindergarten, she was there to show her support.

In 2017, she was accepted into the Richmond County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as a descendant of the Patriot Abraham Talbot, her 4th great grandfather. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Visiting Nurse Services of Hospice and Palliative Care 107th E. 70th Street, Ny, Ny 10021. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
