Eileen’s Obituary Eileen Berniece Yager, 92 of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, formerly of Platteville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 19, 2019. We ask that you join us in celebrating her life and eternal homecoming on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville. Rev.

Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.

Eileen was born on January 21, 1926 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Mueller) Weigel. She was united in marriage to Clarence Reese on December 7, 1943 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa at which they divorced in Dec 1964, he preceded her in death in 1994. She married Sylvan Yager in 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1982.

Eileen and Clarence were blessed with eight daughters and two sons. Eileen was a stay at home Mother and helped farm along the side of her husband for many years. For a few years she provided families with daycare.

Later in life, she tended bar at Reese’s Roundup which she enjoyed making conversations with the customers. Admirers from all walks of life were drawn to her generous spirit and quick wit. Eileen was very proud of her large family and cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She often reminisced and mischievously laughed sharing her stories while in her young years. Her heart went out to the children at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital which she gave many contributions. Eileen not only had a big heart, but she was a very strong and independent woman.

She was a great nature lover. One of her favorite things to do was feeding and watching the birds. She enjoyed the company of her two pet parakeets.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing games, cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and watching Nascar. She touched many hearts and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by eight children, Cheryl (Robert) Carlson of Hartford, WI, Carol (John) Huehne of Platteville, WI, Lynette Jansen, Mike (Becky) Reese and Jolene Helbing of Cuba City, WI, Victoria (Dale) Neis of Dickeyville, WI, Kimberly (Jerry) Adams of Waterford, WI, Tracey (Brad) Sherwin of Waterloo, IA and a step-son Bruce Yager of Lancaster, WI: 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren; Two sisters Donna Olthafer of Platteville, WI, Joyce Smith of Bloomer, WI and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin and daughter Dianne; her parents, four sisters, Bette Curtis, Shirley Kjos, Joan Cullen, and Judy Van Natta, two brothers, Donald and Richard Weigel, a grandson Travis Suthers and husband Sylvan Yager. We would like to thank Dr. White and the staff at Medical Associates, Eden Brook of Platteville Nursing and Rehab, LLC and the staff along with St.Croix Hospice for all their care and concern given to our mother.
