Elbert Dean “Knute” Robertson, 90, of Beatrice died in Lincoln on Thursday morning, June 7, 2018. He was born September 14, 1927 at Tate, Nebraska and graduated from Virginia High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army in Korea from 1946 to 1947.

He married Shirley Rae Rudder on April 2, 1950 at Beatrice. He worked for the United States Post Office for 30 years, first in Beatrice as a clerk, then in Dubois as the Postmaster and then in Lincoln as a letter sorter, retiring in… Read More » 1987. He was a life member of Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion and Post #1077 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars both of Beatrice.

He enjoyed woodworking and yard work. Survivors include one son, Gary Dean Robertson of Beatrice; one daughter, Gail Ames of Beatrice; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Ames, Tammi (Jamie) Carstens, and Kent (Robbyn) Hohensee; eight great-grandchildren, Jarrett, Landon and Delany Carstens, Cole and Wyatt Ames, and Kollyns, Rikki, and Ryan Hohensee; in-laws, Paul and Delores Dougherty, Johnny and Mary Lou Rudder and Eldean Robertson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Clara Ghyra Robertson; his wife Shirley, who died on March 1, 2012; his daughter, Vicki Lyn Hohensee; son-in-law, Mike Ames; two brothers, Marvin Robertson and Harold Robertson and wife Margaret; sister, Imogene Berthold and husband Otto; brother-in-law, Marvin Rudder; sister-in-law, Pat Vrtiska.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Fox Funeral Home with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery of rural Pickrell with military graveside rites. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice.

A guestbook for signatures will be available at the Fox Funeral Home on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. www. foxfuneralhome.net. Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
