She departed this peaceful earth on February 5, 2019 at Cabarrus Hospice and Palliative Care. Eleanor received her education from the Cabarrus County School System.

She later became employed at the Chicken Poultry in Concord, NC. She enjoyed spending most of her time caring for many children and treating them as though they were her own. She was candid and liked sharing her insight with others.

She was affectionately known as “Noble” by her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and fried chicken was among her favorites. She would welcome anyone in her home for a good home cooked meal.

We trust that our loss is heaven’s gain. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a son, Michael Hames; seven sisters: Irma Sanders, Mary Smotherson (David), Margaret Sumlin (Alfort), Elven Johnson, Barber Johnson, Dottie Posey (Brian), Shirley Johnson; five brothers: Curtis Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Clyde Johnson, Leonard Johnson (Lisa), William Johnson; a very special nephew, Leonard Mason “Honeybee”; two favorite cousins: Doris and Margarine and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Thursday, February 14, 2019 at New Life Baptist Church located at 1281 Biscayne Drive in Concord.

The visitation will be held from 12: 00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Rutherford Memorial Park in Concord. Lamb Funeral Home Inc. will be serving the family.
