Obituary for Elena Beth Gutierrez Elena Beth Gutierrez was born January 10, 1964 in Espanola, New Mexico to Arturo and Donna Martinez. Although Elena had lived in various locations, she chose to build a life in Muskogee, OK. A fun, loving, and caring individual, she was extremely loyal and protective of her sisters and mother growing up.

Nena, as known by family and friends, was the most kind hearted lady. She had a smile that could grab anyone’s attention and would embrace you with a hug like she had known you forever. In 1991, Nena married Roman Gutierrez and from this union came three wonderful children Angelica, Catalina, and Roman Miguel.

Her three children meant the world to her. Nena’s number one job was being a magnificent mother. Her love for them was best shown through conversation and anyone who talked with her would walk away knowing every detail without ever meeting them.

When her grandchildren were born, she eloquently took on the Nana role with such pride and joy. No matter the hardships, Nena faced each one with unbreakable determination and will to overcome any obstacle. Her strength was fueled by the wonderful relationship with God and the love of her church family.

On December 9, 2018 Nena won her battle when she was called home to be with God. She is survived by her three children, Angelica Gutierrez and her sons Braylen and Jaleel, Catalina Gutierrez and her daughter Adrianna, and Roman Gutierrez; her mother, Donna Martinez; her siblings, Christe Brown, Lealynne Martinez, Daryl Martinez, and Barry Martinez; along with countless other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Arturo Martinez; her cousin, Mark Walters; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

A family conducted memorial service will be 2PM, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at New Community Church in Muskogee. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family at Armstrong Bank account under the names of Angelica Gutierrez, Catalina Gutierrez and Roman Gutierrez.
