Elizabeth A Patterson , October 12, 1960 — June 23, 2018

Elizabeth Ann Patterson Elizabeth Ann Patterson of Morris Township, died peacefully at home on Saturday June 23, 2018 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. She was 57. Beth (Kelly) Patterson was born on October 12, 1960 and grew up in Jefferson Township, New Jersey.

She graduated from Jefferson High School where she played clarinet in the marching and jazz bands, and was a member of National Honor Society. In 1990 she graduated from Rutgers University Law School and became a member of the Bar in NJ/NY working for several years as an attorney specializing in medical malpractice. Leaving the practice of law, Beth worked for Catholic Community Services as a project manager. She later returned to her first career love, nursing, and worked for the Morris School District and the ARC of Essex County as a grant writer and school nurse.

Beth loved her life, her home, her family, many friends and especially her beloved husband of 25 years James Patterson and their precious daughter, Jane. She was an avid skier, gardener, expert furniture refinisher, gifted painter and calligrapher and enthusiastic traveler. She had a quick wit and a ready laugh that her many devoted friends and loved ones will always treasure.

Beth was a faithful Roman Catholic, and an active member of Assumption Parish serving as a Catechist for Good Shepherd. Beth lived her faith daily and advocated for love, dignity, compassion, inclusion and respect for persons with Down Syndrome. In addition to her husband and daughter, Elizabeth is survived by her mother Grace Kelly, her brother Kevin Kelly and her sister Jeanne Kelly Oplinger and many beloved cousins, nephews and nieces.

Her father, Peter Kelly, predeceased her earlier this year. Visitation will be held at the Doyle Funeral home, Morristown, on Tuesday June 26, 2018 from 4- 8 P.M., and a Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Church, 91 Maple Avenue, Morristown on Wednesday June 27, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in the name of Elizabeth Patterson to ECLC Foundation, 100 Passaic Ave. , Chatham, New Jersey, 07928.
