Obituary for Elsa Gilbert Elsa Adeline Gilbert, 90 of Corsicana passed away September 14, 2018. She was born December 12, 1927 in South Hampton, Long Island NY to Richard Niesig and Margaret Yetman Niesig. She was very active at St. Kevin’s Church in New York where she also coached the girls softball team.

She was a member of the U.S Power Squadron, and at a young age she was a airplane spotter during WWII. She also enjoyed boating with her husband. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Stephen Gilbert.

She is survived by her two daughters, Eileen Hamby and Ann Staples; grandchildren, Christopher and Thomas Staples, Eddie Hamby and Victoria Gaffaney; four great grandchildren and nephews, Arthur, Russell, Dennis and Richard Tierney. Visitation will be Sunday, September 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30am Monday, September 17th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Marco officiating.
