Obituary for Elsie M. Berkmoes Elsie M. Berkmoes, 92, of Southington, passed away on Saturday, June 16th surrounded by her family at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late Morris Berkmoes. She was born in Cheshire on Dec.

20, 1925, the daughter of the late August and Mary (Woike) Schmidt. Prior to her retirement she worked for the Southington School System’s lunch program and also had worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital as a Kitchen Supervisor. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and active with the ladies guild in the church.

Elsie loved doing arts and crafts and enjoyed working in her yard at home and watching the Boston Red Sox. She is survived by her loving children, Alice Meronek and husband Thomas, Kenneth Berkmoes and wife Sandy, Robert Berkmoes and wife Denise and Carol Paradis and husband Daniel all of Southington, 8 cherished grandchildren Scott, Eric, Nathan, Andrea, Stacie, Kelly, Kristin and Stephen, 11 great grandchildren Avery, Kyle, Abigail, Brianna, Adeline, Dexter, Kaylin, Savannah, Lee, Jaden and Ariana and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a great grandchild Victoria and brothers Henry, Ewald, Edward and Albert Schmidt and a sister Adeline Baribault.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Southington Care for their loving care and concern that they gave to Elsie. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St. at 10 am. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
