There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11 a.m. Tuesday September 25, 2018, celebrated By Rev. Zachary Coulter, at St. Luke Church for Emil E. Styka, 99, of Boardman who passed away peacefully Thursday September 20, at the Hampton Woods Nursing Center, surrounded by his family. Emil was born April 13, 1919 in Youngstown, the son of Bruno and Viola Huffman Styka, he was a lifelong area resident.

Emil graduated from South High School and then began working at Ohio Bell Telephone Co., as a repair Technician. He was drafted to Serve his country on October 23, 1941, with the Army Air Corp. as a Warning & Control Sergeant during WWII.

, serving in the Aleutian Islands and the Philippines. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to work at Ohio Bell, after 42 years he retired in 1983. Emil was an active member of St. Luke Church serving as an usher for many years and was a member of the Holy Name Society and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was truly an avid golfer and belonged to several leagues around town, he also enjoyed ball room dancing. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Gail (James) Lemmon and Judith Styka both of Boardman, and his longtime companion Louise Kluchar of Poland. Besides his parents Emil was preceded in death by his daughter Patrice D. Styka-Riehl who passed away February of 2015 and his brother Edward Styka and sister Mary Cislack.

Emil was also preceded in by the mother of his daughters Barbara Brenner Styka. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning at St. Luke Church. The burial with Military Honors will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Emil’s Family requests that material contributions be made to St. Luke Church 5235 South Ave. Boardman, 44512 and the American Diabetes Association in remembrance of his daughter Patrice, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900 Arlington, VA 22202. Emil’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving staff of Hampton woods, the love and compassion shown to their father was greatly appreciated.
