Obituary for Emogene “Jean” Baber Emogene “Jean” Baber (nee Varney) born Feb 7, 1940 at Tierney Hollow, Stone, Pike Co., KY passed Sept 14, 2018. A graduate of Belfry High School in Stone, KY, Mrs. Baber was retired from Columbus Public Schools, a life member of United States Jaycees, and a member of the LDS church. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and had an interest in puzzles, genealogy, shopping, and helping others.

She looked forward every year to going “back home” to the Pond Creek Reunion. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Baber, her parents; Claude Varney and Sally Hardy Varney, and sister; Claudette Varney Spencer. She leaves behind son; William Eric Baber (Duchess), daughter; Patricia Everson (Mick), grandson; Jackson Baber and granddaughters; Sheridan Everson and Annie Everson, sisters; Gale Armentrout, Sally Sue Clay (John), and brother; Richard Varney (Brenda), sister-in-law; Annette Baber Yarhouse (Robert), nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank the crew of Medic 25, staffs of Riverside Methodist Hospital, Whetstone Rehabilitation Center, and Kobacker House for their care and support during her stays there. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 19 at 10 a.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085. Friends may call there Tuesday, September 18 from 6 – 8 p.m. Jean requests only bright colors be worn to the service to celebrate her life.
