Diane Sears, age 86 found eternal peace on September l3, 2018. She was born on July 29, 1932 to the late Alice Mae and Donovan Williams in Bellefontaine, OH. She resided in Columbus for 10 years.

She met and married her wonderful second husband, Steve and lived with him in Milford, NH for almost 40 years. After his death, Diane returned to Columbus 10 years ago–to the delight of her local son and daughter. Diane inherited her father’s musical talents–she was somewhat of a musical prodigy– vocalist, pianist, and organist.

She won many awards and accolades throughout her younger years. She was the choir director at Karl Road Christian Church for many years. Upon her return to Columbus, Diane attended Northwest Christian Church.

To Diane’s probable chagrin and amusement two of her offspring, Alicia and Dave, did not inherit a fraction of her musical talent. Son Chuck’s talent gave her hope and pleasure. Diane worked hard all of her life– from the time she was a child (before child labor laws!

) working in her grandfather’s grocery store, to banking, office management, to accountant for several businesses. She finally retired approximately 10 years ago. Diane was a voracious reader–reading 2-3 books at a time.

Her library book bag was always full and her Nook loaded with books. She also enjoyed needlework–many family members, friends, babies in the NICU, and residents in senior living facilities have been recipients of beautiful afghans, quilts, caps and anything else she could think of to make! Diane enjoyed many, many, many meals at Bob Evans and the attentiveness of Amanda who was devoted to making the meals perfect!

! Diane was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan. She spent many hours knitting/crocheting while watching sporting events–with the exception of tennis which she detested.

She was a rabid OSU football and New England Patriots fan–she has enough paraphernalia to open a store. She was particularly enamored with Tom Brady– Gisele not so much! The list of attributes, accomplishments, and talents could go on, but we hear her saying “enough already”!

Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children, Alicia, Dave, & Chuck Richey of Columbus OH; grandchildren Danielle, David, Christopher, Lisa Marie, Jessica, Sarah; great grandchildren Amelia, Skylar, Phoenix, and Isabel. In accordance with Diane’s wishes, private services will be held in Bellefontaine, OH and Milford, NH. Donations in her memory may be made to Ohio Health Hospice or charity of choice.

A special thank you to the staff at Riverside Hospital and Ohio Health for their expert, kind, and compassionate care.
