Obituary for Marian Lang Acton Marian Lang Acton, 99, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully September 11, 2018, at Friendship Village of Columbus, where she had lived for the past 18 years. She was born April 21, 1919, in Woodville, Ohio, to the late John Frederick Lang and Lydia Faist Lang and preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. (Dick) Acton, and brother, Howard Lang of Woodville, Ohio. She is survived by her daughter, Christine O’Brien (Robert) of Hockessin, Delaware; son, Richard L. Acton (Margaret Chernek) of Lexington, South Carolina; granddaughter, Suzanne Lafferty (Gene) and great-granddaughter, Taylor Lafferty, of Belle Center.

Ohio; and nephews John Lang (LynnEllen) of Woodville, Ohio, and Ted Lang (Jan) of Lambertville, Michigan. Marian was a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, with degrees in business administration and education. She retired as a training officer with the Ohio Department of Aging.

A member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Columbus, she served as deacon and senior choir member for many years. She was also active in civic and social organizations including Columbus PTA Council; Dominion Junior High School PTA (president); Women’s Association of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (board member); CSO Rhapsody Unit (president); and member of the Clintonville Women’s Club, Delta Zeta alumnae organization; Twig 65; and Northern Lions Auxiliary. She was an avid reader all her life and a gifted pianist.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1479 Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229, Pastor Tim Mueller officiating. Family will receive friends at the church starting at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Columbus at a later date. In place of flowers, friends who wish may make a donation to Ascension Lutheran Church or to the Friendship Village of Columbus Ridgewood Fund (for Assisted Living programs).
