Eric L. Heil, was born March 22, 1949, and borne to eternal life, surrounded by family, March 20, 2018. Eric “Corky” was an avid sportsman, who loved to hunt and fish up and down Door County. Eric graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1967, excelling in sports, especially as a wrestler his junior and senior years when he went to state.

Corky played years for Andre’s baseball team. His left-handed bat swing was legendary. Corky attended UW-Stout in Menomonie where he graduated in 1972 with a B.S. in psychology.

Eric spent his lifetime as a painting contractor, working on commercial buildings all over Wisconsin and private homes in Door County. Corky is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Julaine Jeanquart. He is also survived by the mother of his sons, Patsy (Eric) Vollrath.

He is further survived by his children, Christopher Heil (Lee McConkey), Fish Creek, Patrick Heil, New York City, and Tabitha Marquez, Sturgeon Bay. He leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Haydn Rose Marquez, and Brooks Richard Heil. Eric will be missed by his siblings, James (Tara) Heil of FairPlay, CO, Fred (Julie) Heil of Madison, Mary (Hugh) Allen of Sturgeon Bay, and Robert (Gail) Heil of Green Bay.

Corky will be fondly remembered by his Godson and name-sake, Eric James (JoLynn) Heil of Dillon, CO; nephews, Tim Heil of Crystal Lake, IL, and Dane (Kimberly) Allen of Sus, WI, and his nieces, Carrie Heil (Paul Nimmer) of Cottage Grove, WI, Bethany Heil of Madison, and Aubree Rose Heil of FairPlay, CO. Eric was a loving great-uncle to Griffin and Madelyn Heil, Carmen and Wesley Voeck, and Jaxon Heil. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Rose Heil; and his baby sister, Phyllis Ann.

Corky’s wish was to mention his beloved Labrador retrievers, who brought both joy and companionship to his life: Lady, Molly, Maggie, and Samarah Rae. His life was celebrated by family and friends on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Greystone Castle in Sturgeon Bay, which originally built by his great-grandfather, Henry Fortemps. A graveside committal service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Joseph Cemetery, 3737 Egg Harbor Rd.
