Obituary for Mr. Eric Ryan Tench Walhalla, SC — Eric Ryan Tench, 38, of 199 Amy Lane, Walhalla, passed away, Thursday, May 24, 2018. Eric was born in Charleston, SC on July 11, 1979 to Douglas Eugene and Sandra Lee Nicholson Tench. He was a 1997 graduate of Walhalla High School.

Eric was an avid outdoorsman and bear hunter who travelled all over the U.S. He was very passionate about the training of bear hunting dogs and enjoyed sharing that love with others. In addition to his parents of Mesa, Arizona, Eric is survived by his sister and brother-in-law: Lisa Michelle and Antoine Bernier; nephew and niece: Ayden and Chloe Bernier, of North Augusta, SC; and grandmother: Wilma Katherine Kelley of Walhalla.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents: Claude and Lillian Rankin of Seneca. A memorial service is being planned and will be announced. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Rabun County and the State of Georgia EMA Teams and all volunteers who supported the search and rescue effort by giving up their time and showing their compassion and care during this difficult time.
