Erlene Tate (Mosehart) Barndt, 84, formerly of Hebron, Kentucky, died peacefully at The Seasons of Alexandria on October 25, 2018 surrounded by her three children. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Sgt. Homer Tate and later by her 2nd husband, Roland F. Barndt.

Erlene was born in Harris Creek, near Danville, Kentucky, and later moved to Bromley. She was a talented and well-respected legal secretary, working for 50+ years at O’Hara, Ruberg, & Taylor law firm. Erlene was proud to work for John “Jay” O’Hara during his term as a Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court.

She was also an accomplished court reporter, known for her speed and accuracy. Erlene was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Williamsburg, Virginia was one of her favorite places to visit.

She loved to listen to music, especially Frank Sinatra. Erlene also taught Sunday School, VBS, GA’s, and Acteens at her church. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her 12 grandchildren, Morgan (Kevin) Spanier, Shelby (Jeff) Mitchell, Harrison Young, Stephanie (Matthew) Rentschler, Jennifer Vocke, Robert (Alexandra) Vocke, Ross (Maria) Vocke, Samuel Vocke, Madison (Toby) Hill, Keaton Holbrook, Corey Holbrook and Mallory Holbrook; five great grandchildren; and lifelong friend, Kathleen Wagoner Drahman.

Erlene was preceded in death by her sister, Juna Wainscott; and brother, Mack Alvin McElfresh. She is survived by her son, Brett (Cathy) Tate; daughters, Lori (R. Kim) Vocke and Gina (Elliott) Holbrook; sisters, Kim (Mike) Mullins, Sherri McElfresh, Lynda (Hugh) Anderson, and Marita (Doug) Spencer; brothers, David (Debbie) McElfresh, Danny (Sandy) McElfresh, Roger (Dee) McElfresh, and Tony (Joyce) McElfresh; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Funeral Services to immediately follow at 1:00 pm. Interment at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.
