Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and former WWII Veteran, Ernest Edmund Friske passed away at his home in Indian River, MI on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the age of 92. He died on the anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart from his wounds fought in this battle.

The son of the late John and Wanda (Wojda) Friske, Ernest was born December 28, 1925 in Saginaw, MI. He married the love of his life Germaine (Skelcy) on August 7, 1948. She preceded him on December 2, 2015.

They were married 67 loving years. Ernest loved the Detroit Tigers. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening and his grandchildren.

He was owner and operator of Friske Builders for 42 years. Surviving are 5 sons and 4 daughters, Gary (Denise) Friske of Indian River, Mark (Marie) Friske of Petoskey, John (Linda) Friske of Cheboygan, Deborah (Jim) Dishaw of Alanson, Denise (Dan) Lintz of Tawas, Diane (John) Suhan of Indian River, Paul Friske of Boyne Falls, Joel Friske of Petoskey and Maureen (Scott) Fettig of Frankenmuth; 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and six siblings. Ernest is preceded in death by his wife and six siblings.

Friends may call Stone Funeral Home, 2098 E. Mitchell Road, Petoskey, MI 49770 where family and friends will be present from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 and Monday, June 11, at Cross in the Woods Shrine, 7078 M-68, Indian River, MI from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Prayer service and rosary will take place at Stone Funeral Home, Sunday at 5 p.m. Funeral liturgy will take place at Cross in the Woods Shrine on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Internment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 East Holland Road, Saginaw, MI with full military honors rendered by VFW Post #1859 at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be directed to McLaren Home Care – Hospice Cheboygan Branch or the Father Donard Memorial Fund of Cross in the Woods Shrine.
