Ernest Steinmann, May 07, 1927 — August 01, 2018

Obituary for Ernest Steinmann Ernest Steinmann was born in New York City on May 7, 1927. He married Mary Ehrlich on October 15, 1949. Ernie and Mary lived in New York City until after their second child was born.

Always the travelers, they moved onto Bloomfield, NJ, Morris Plains, NJ, Lake Forest, IL, Clifton Park, NY and finally Peck’s Lake in Gloversville. Ernie started his career as a Chemical Engineer, moved on to management and in his later years began a business with Mary as a Job Recruiter, which they continued well into their seventies. Ernie and Mary also liked to travel on vacations, taking the children to Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Williamsburg VA, Europe and many other places.

During retirement they enjoyed living at Peck’s Lake in the summers, but always took a break to travel South during the winter. Ernie was always involved with the church and the choir. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing Pinochle, bowling, square dancing and being with the family.

He also enjoyed working on his vast stamp collection, which he had inherited from his father. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary, children, Richard Steinmann(Paula) of Reston,VA, Susan Milovich(Bob) of Hopatcong, NJ and Thomas Steinmann(Patricia) of Antioch, TN; grandchildren, Peter Steinmann, Karin Steinmann, Kristin Daisley(Scott) and Juliana Steinmann. Many other family members and friends also survive.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Mayfield United Presbyterian Church, 22 North Main Street, Mayfield, NY 12117 from 11am until 12pm. A funeral service will take place at 12pm with Rev. Bonnie Orth.
