Mrs. Esther Rue Williams, 81, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at her home in Kannapolis. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Midway United Methodist Church. Rev.

Todd McCullough will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Williams was born May 1, 1937 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late James Robert Williams and Mattie Walker Williams. She retired from Kannapolis City Schools where she worked as a reading tutor.

She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Brad Williams. Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Guy Edward Williams; son, Christian Williams and wife Dawn of Indonesia; sister, Doris Avant and husband Bill of Florida; brother, Jack Williams and wife Edna of TN; grandson, Joshua Williams; and a number of nieces and nephews.
