On Saturday, June 23, 2018, died peacefully at his home in Lanham, MD. Born on October 25, 1931 in Kenly, NC to the late Etha Thel and Lucene Boykin. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Grant Boykin of 53 years; devoted father of Michael Boykin (David Virden), David (Connie) Boykin, Lisa (Gino) Mauricci, and Tina (John) Galdieri.

Caring brother of Brenda Williams (Don Burton). Grandfather of Allison, Caitlin, Alexi, Kylie, and Gracie Faith. Brother-in-law of Doris Greene (Carey Lively) and Michael Grant.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Boykin. Thel was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Men’s Club, several bowling leagues, Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and VFW. Relatives and friends can pay their respects at GASCH’S FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7207 Annapolis Road, Landover Hills, MD on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. Interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
