Ethel G. Parkinson, 87, Ferndale, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2018. Born on May 19, 1931 in Johnstown, daughter of Clifford “Tip” and Elizabeth (Miller) Thomas. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas R. Parkinson Sr.; grandson, Benjamin Doepfer; sisters, Leona Bennett and Evelyn Thomas.

She is survived by her loving children, Brenda (Daniel) Zak, Mechanicsburg, Nanette Macy, Johnstown, Sandra (Jack) Geisel, Schellsburg, Connie (Dennis) Doepfer, Johnstown, Thomas Parkinson, Somerset, and Patty (Larry) Tillman, Corinne, UT; grandchildren, Terri and Jeremy Zak; Debra and Heather Macy, Thomas and Sean Riffle, Patrick Doepfer, and Shayne and Kayle Tillman; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Vern Schlosser, North Huntington; several nieces, nephews, and many friends, including special friend, Debbie Kush-Kralik, Ferndale. Ethel was a graduate of Ferndale High School. She retired from the Allegheny Lutheran Home, where she was employed in the Dietary Department.

Ethel was a member of Ferndale United Methodist Church; life member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary; Western PA Firemen’s Association and Cambria County Fireman’s Association. She was active and enjoyed participating with the “Blind Association “activities. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev.

John R. Virgin officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped, 211 Central Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15902 in memory of Ethel.
