Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, for Eugene Collins, 82, of Boardman, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2205 Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, Ohio 44420, who passed away Sunday morning at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth – Boardman with his family by his side. Mr. Collins was born in Youngstown on June 12, 1936 and was a son of Joseph and Veronica Sullivan Collins and was a lifelong member of the community. He was an engineer for CSX Railroad for 35 years and was also employed by the United States Post Office where he did special deliveries.

Mr. Collins served in the United States Army, a graduate of East High School, avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns in which the Browns achieved their second win of the season on the day in which Mr. Collins passed away. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Helen Papini whom he shared his life with for over 56 years; son, Kevin (Corina) Collins of Austin, Texas; daughter, Kathy (Curtiss) Lipp of North Jackson; sister, Maureen (Donald) Jones of Youngstown; grandchildren, Rachel, Daniel, Sarah, Gavin, Liam and Hannah. Besides his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a sister, Noreen Berringer, his brothers, Jerome, John, Donald Kevin, Gerald, Edward and Thomas Collins.
